Couple single session therapy
One conversation. One focus. One way forward.
A focused 90-minute session for couples who need to untangle one specific
thing — without committing to ongoing couples work.
What it is
An honest space to do the actual work.
Sometimes a couple doesn’t need months of therapy. They need one really good conversation, held by someone who can keep it from collapsing into the usual loop.
Couple Single Session Therapy is exactly that. 90 minutes, one clear focus, and a structure designed to be complete in itself.
Who it's for
This work is for you if…
- You have one specific issue you keep going round in circles on
- You want a tune-up, not a full course of therapy
- A specific event (a conversation, a decision, a rupture) needs unpacking
- You're considering couples therapy and want to try a session first
- You're long-distance or time-poor and need a focused intervention
- You want help preparing for a hard conversation together
Areas I work with
Areas I work with
- A recurring argument you can't get out of
- A decision you're stuck on as a couple
- Processing a specific rupture or moment of disconnection
- Preparing for a difficult conversation (family, parenting, money)
- A communication pattern you can both see but can't shift
- Navigating a life transition together
- Re-aligning after a period of distance
- Discernment: trying one focused session before deciding on more
How it works
Structured, focused, complete in itself.
Before the session, both of you will fill out a short pre-session questionnaire. It tells me where each of you is starting from, so we don’t spend the first 30 minutes catching up.
In the room, we’ll narrow in on the one thing you want to work on, look at what’s underneath it, and leave with something concrete you can both use.
How it works
What sessions actually look like
Method
Step 1: Pre-session prep
A short separate questionnaire for each of you so I can hold both perspectives before we meet.
Method
Step 2: The 90-minute session
One focus, two people, real conversation. I’ll structure it so both of you are heard and neither of you leaves carrying everything.
Method
Step 3: A clear next step
You’ll leave with a shared understanding of what’s actually going on, and at least one concrete next step.
Method
What happens after
You decide. Some couples come once and that’s enough. Others move into ongoing couples therapy from here.
What you'll leave with
You'll leave the work with:
- A shared understanding of the pattern you keep falling into
- Practical language and tools to use the next time it happens
- Movement on a specific stuck point
- Less reactive, more honest communication for the week ahead
- Clarity on whether ongoing work would be useful

Common questions
Frequently asked questions
Is one session really enough for a couple?
For one focused issue, surprisingly often yes. It won’t rewrite your whole relationship, but it can shift a specific stuck point.
What if it turns into a fight?
It won’t — that’s my job. The session is structured so both of you can be honest without it collapsing into the usual dynamic.
Can we do this online?
Yes — online works well, especially for couples in different locations.
Do we have to commit to more after?
No. There’s no pressure to continue. We can talk about ongoing work if it’s useful, but the session is complete in itself.
Why is this more expensive than a standard couples session?
It’s longer, more intensive, and includes pre-session assessment for both of you. It’s designed to do a complete piece of work.
